A lube technician, also known as an automotive lube technician, performs routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles. They are responsible for lubricating a vehicle's engine, changing oil, and inspecting the vehicle for issues.
Responsibilities -
Oil changes: Drain and replace a vehicle's oil to manufacturer specifications
Fluid top-offs: Add brake, power steering, and windshield wiper fluid
Tire pressure checks: Check tire pressure and fill tires with air as needed
Engine inspections: Check for leaks and potential issues in the engine block and underbody
Minor repairs: Replace air filters, windshield wipers, and other easily maintained parts
Service reports: Create detailed service reports for customers
Customer service: Interact with customers and provide high-quality service
Skills Mechanical aptitude, Attention to detail, Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment, and Ability to balance and climb.
Training -
Some formal training in a related field
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
Associate degree with one year of related experience
