A QA/QC inspector for steel structures inspects and tests steel structures to ensure they meet quality standards. They also ensure that the structure is installed correctly and that all materials are used as intended.
Responsibilities -
1. Inspect materials: Check materials against purchase orders and ensure they are stored properly
2. Inspect components: Check the elevation of pad plates, the verticality of columns, and the alignment of columns
3. Inspect welds: Visually inspect welded joints and request non-destructive testing (NDT) if necessary
4. Inspect installations: Ensure that the structure is installed according to approved drawings
5. Monitor operations: Ensure that operations meet production standards
6. Recommend adjustments: Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process
7. Issue reports: Issue non-conformity reports (NCRs) and prepare reports for the inspection
8. Monitor progress: Monitor the progress of the project quality management system
9. Recommend improvements: Recommend and implement improvements when required
