A mechanical quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) inspector ensures that mechanical components and systems meet quality standards. They inspect materials, equipment, and construction activities, and perform tests to identify defects. They also monitor operations and recommend improvements to the production process.
Responsibilities -
1. Inspect: Examine components, verify measurements, and perform functional and performance tests
2. Test: Run tests to identify defects, such as hydrostatic tests on tanks
3. Monitor: Monitor operations to ensure they meet production standards
4. Recommend: Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process
5. Document: Issue quality records and non-conformity reports
6. Communicate: Coordinate with customer representatives and the customer's technical department
7. Improve: Recommend and implement improvements to the project quality management system
Skills and qualifications -
1. Knowledge of quality control and legal standards
2. Experience in devising and reviewing project plans, documents, and specifications
3. Ability to read blueprints and specifications
4. Ability to operate electronic inspection equipment and software
