A painting quality assurance (QA) or quality control (QC) inspector performs inspections on materials, equipment, and installation activities for painting projects. They ensure that the work is done to specification and that the correct materials are used.
Responsibilities -
1. Inspect materials: Check the cleanliness and roughness of blasted surfaces, and ensure that the correct materials are used
2. Inspect equipment: Ensure that the equipment is in good condition and that the correct gauges are calibrated
3. Inspect installation: Check the surface preparation, atmospheric conditions, and coding cycles
4. Perform tests: Perform adhesion, penetration, and impact tests, as well as wet and dry film thickness checks
5. Record observations: Record atmospheric conditions, film thickness, and other observations
6. Prepare reports: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the status of the work
7. Liaise with others: Communicate with department heads, customers, and third parties
