A steel fixer, also known as an ironworker, positions and secures steel bars and mesh into concrete to reinforce structures. They create the skeleton of a structure by building steel reinforcement for columns, beams, walls, floors, and slabs.
Responsibilities -
> Set out the work area
> Cut and bend steel bars and mesh using hand and power tools
> Tie steel bars together to build cages
> Fit spacers and supports
> Use steel bars to build casts to hold concrete in place
Skills and requirements Knowledge of construction techniques, Attention to detail, Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, Good math skills, and Ability to follow engineering instructions and technical charts and diagrams.
