A rigger 3 is responsible for setting up and taking down rigging to move heavy equipment and materials. They may also be called on to direct crane operators.
Responsibilities -
> Set up and repair rigging at construction sites, shipyards, and other locations
> Attach loads, pulleys, and blocks to cranes
> Align and anchor machinery
> Control the movement of heavy equipment
> Ensure rigging is safe for use
> Select cables, ropes, pulleys, and winches based on the weight and size of the load
> Attach blocks and pulleys to overhead structures using bolts and clamps
> Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices like chains, ropes, and wires
> Give directions to crane operators using hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephones
> Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle
