• Prepare machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
• Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products, using a variety of metalworking machines.
• Supervise the daily planned and preventive maintenance work as per the instruction of Section Head - Mechanical and updating section records.
• Coordinate with Section Head - Mechanical in planning for any shut down maintenance, spares, and manpower arrangement.
• Oversee housekeeping during and after completion of jobs in their respective section.
• Ensure proactive and effective measures, actions, and controls are in place to assure compliance with QHSSE approved policy and procedures.
• Supervise and develop the performance of the team assure their compliance with the established policies, strategies & plans, and their contributions towards the realization of intended results.
• Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.
• Undertake the required initiatives in order to effectively estimate man hour requirements, plan work schedules, assign and direct subordinates and attend work site during installation, maintenance and repair of Mechanical equipment associated with facilities and systems.
• Allocate work to team; conduct safety talks prior to tasks in order to support successful completion of activities in accordance with safety standards.
• Review list of mechanical maintenance problems with the Section Head - Mechanical in order to take actions to resolve these problems.
• Ensure availability of timely resources for any emergency maintenance activities in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with warehouse to arrange for the timely availability of the necessary spares for the on-going jobs in day and operations, while coordinating with the Section Head - Mechanical to construct the identification for essential spares in their respective section.
• Ensure that the problem is solved by either attending to it personally if the problem affects a process or may cause a shutdown, or delegating the responsibility to a Machinist if the problem is relatively risk-free.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Update of shift reports in the respective log books.
• Identify and propose improvement initiatives based on current performance and/or future requirements.
• Create a positive and supportive work environment that encourages performance excellence, and establishes result-oriented teams with common purpose, goals, and shared-values.
• Comply with the company QHSSE approved policy.
• Perform any relevant additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Superior(s).
