Job Purpose
The purpose of dangerous goods documentation and packaging is to ensure the safe, compliant transport of dangerous goods by providing detailed information for handlers and regulators, and by using specialized packages that meet strict performance standards. A job in this area ensures compliance with IATA/GACA regulations, proper classifications identification, Packing, Marking, and labeling, and documentation, in addition to handling dangerous goods properly, segregation, and the correct preparation of all required transport documents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Documentation & Packaging – IATA CBTA 7.1 Certified:
- Prepare Dangerous Goods Declarations (DGD) in accordance with IATA CBTA 7.1 regulations.
- Review classification of hazardous materials to ensure compliance with IATA/GACA standards.
- Package parcels according to IATA packing instructions to ensure safe air transport.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and airlines to ensure shipments are handled smoothly
- Maintain and archive shipment records and documents per regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
2. Ground Handling & Transport – IATA CBTA 7.4 Certified:
Receive prepared parcels from client warehouses after verifying safety compliance.
- Transport dangerous goods to designated airports using qualified and equipped certified vehicles.
- Strictly follow safety procedures during driving and handling as per IATA dangerous goods regulations TABLE 9.3.2
- Verify accompanying shipment documents before dispatch.
- Coordinate with airport ground handling teams for smooth delivery.
- Report any incidents or violations during transport immediately.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid IATA CBTA 7.1 certification.
- Valid IATA CBTA 7.4 certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dangerous goods operations.
- will experience knowledge of safety procedures.
- skilled to perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in electronic systems for documentation and shipment tracking.
- Valid driver’s license for hazardous goods transport vehicles based on the internal requirement.
